Reach: Weight
Did I lose fat or muscle?
A single reading can't tell you. Reach separates fat mass from lean mass and shows you what really changes, as a trend.
The problem
A number alone tells you nothing.
Most apps show you your weight, celebrate streaks and keep your readings in their cloud. They won't tell you whether you lost fat or muscle, whether the number is even real, or what it means for you. Reach flips that around.
You know the feeling: up 0.8 kg overnight even though you did everything right. Your body fat number jumps five points and nobody tells you why. Water? Your cycle? Salt? A bad reading? The scale app just shrugs.
How Reach works
The daily scale lies. The trend tells the truth.
Your weight swings by one or two kilos a day, just from water, food and sleep. The daily number is mostly noise. Reach lets you weigh daily, smooths the swings into a calm trend and shows you the real direction. That is what Reach is built on.
-
Step on
Reach pulls your weight automatically from Apple Health or Google Health Connect, whatever scale you use (Withings, Renpho and many more). On iPhone, Reach also imports your past readings. Connect your Withings scale directly and your entire history comes with it, body fat and lean mass included. No account needed. Or type it in yourself, two seconds.
-
Filter the noise
Reach averages the daily swings into a calm trend. You see the real direction instead of a number that reads differently every morning.
-
Separate fat from lean mass
If your scale also measures body fat, Reach shows whether you're losing fat and keeping lean mass. Without a body-fat scale you still get the honest weight trend, which is more than most apps give you.
What Reach does differently
Three things hardly any scale app offers.
You stay in control of your data.
Reach stores locally on your device first and works fully offline. No forced account, no cloud needed. Your readings leave your device only when you deliberately create an encrypted backup, with your own recovery code. Your body data is never sold or used for ads.
So clear you get it at a glance.
Reach gives you the answer first, in one sentence, before the chart. That clarity is deliberate: we build Reach so blind and low-vision people can fully use it. No statistics jargon, no cluttered dashboard, no chart you have to decode first. Everyone benefits, including you glancing between two meetings. And we're looking for blind and low-vision testers:
Reach explains instead of lecturing.
Your weight jumps up a kilo on Monday? Reach puts it in context: after an active weekend that's normal, and your body fat has barely changed. No red bar, no guilt. Reach shows trends instead of daily values and stays quiet when it has nothing honest to say. What Reach doesn't do: recommend diets, demand weight loss or compare you to others. You track whenever it suits you, with no obligation.
Here is what that looks like
Answer first, then the detail.
Reach puts the most important statement up front, in words. The chart is the depth, not the only path to the answer. Body composition scales estimate rather than measure exactly, which is why Reach shows the trend and not the single-day number.

Reach is not a medical device and does not replace medical advice. The reference range is context, not a health verdict.
Pricing
Understanding your numbers is free. And stays free.
Other scale apps show you your weight but never tell you what it means. At Reach that part is free: the honest trend, the answer whether it was fat or muscle, the context in plain words. No account, no ads, and your body data is never sold. It stays that way.
Pro is for anyone who wants to go deeper: detailed explanations for standout days, personal context and monthly reviews. It's entirely optional; you never need it for the core analysis. During Early Access these features are free for everyone; later Pro is 29.99 € per year, around 2.50 a month, and the store shows your regional price.
Early adopter promise: start during Early Access and you keep the Pro core free for good. AI-powered features remain separate.

Frequently asked
What you probably want to know.
Why lean mass and not just weight?
The same number on the scale can mean very different things. Reach separates fat mass and lean mass so you see what actually changes, not just the total.
Why a trend instead of the daily value?
Your weight fluctuates every day through water, food and sleep. The smoothed trend shows the real direction without the noise misleading you.
Why is there no target date?
A countdown creates pressure, not clarity. Instead, Reach estimates where your trend is heading, without putting you on a deadline.
How accurate is a BIA scale?
BIA estimates body composition and is not a lab measurement. Reach treats jumps as estimates and puts them in context, rather than selling them as truth.
Does my data really stay local?
Yes. Reach stores everything on your device and doesn't need an account or a cloud. You create an encrypted backup only if you want to.
Does Reach work with my scale?
You can connect Withings directly, and your entire history comes with it, body fat and lean mass included. All other scales go through Apple Health or Google Health Connect; on iPhone, Reach also imports your past readings. You don't start from zero.
Do I need a smart scale?
No. Typing an entry takes two seconds, and the honest weight trend works with any scale. If your scale also measures body fat, the fat-or-muscle answer comes on top.
What happens when I switch phones?
You create an encrypted backup with your own recovery code and restore it on the new device. Without a backup, the data stays on the old device only. That's the trade-off of local storage.
Is the app usable with a screen reader?
Accessibility is the heart of Reach. Every statement is also spelled out in words and every element is labelled. Testing with real blind users is a fixed part of our launch criteria, and we are looking for testers.
What does Pro cost?
Recording your numbers and understanding them stays free. Pro unlocks deeper explanations and will later cost 29.99 € per year in the EU, around 2.50 a month; in other regions the store shows the price in your local currency. During Early Access, upcoming Pro features are free and marked as such.
